This is my first ever blog anywhere. Boy. It was difficult. I am a very reserved person by nature. All my family and friends always complain that I dont share my thoughts. So here goes ...
The first step was a challenge in itself. I had no idea that people loved to blog so much. Just to pick a name for my blog was so difficult. Everything to do with random was taken up. Tried "daily random", "random thoughts", random thoughts daily", "my random thoughts", "I am a random guy", "I am a random guy in US with nothing to do" .... Everything was unavailable. I did not know that there are so many random folks out there. (OK accepted that I made up the last two but the rest are real).
Well I just moved to Erie PA in US from Bangalore India and let me tell you one thing. Living in US is so easy. You can get anything that you want in a Walmart, Kmart or Wegmans store. No need to worry. The traffic is great too. It used to take me ~40 minutes in India to cover the 9.4Km between my workplace and home. It takes me a mere 20 minutes to cover the 9.6 miles. I have not yet been able to master the unit conversions but I am atleast not stressed as much. Obviously the main reason for this move to be so smooth has been due to the kind of support provided by my company. We really needed to do nothing much. There were people at hand to help. Always. No wonder it is the most admired company in the world.
So all of us are getting used to this new system. The first shocker was my son's school admission. Done in one visit. Without paying a single penny. Everyone being very polite to the parents! My experience in Bangalore was completely different. Anyone with a school going kid in Bangalore will agree.
So 2 months down the road things are getting settled. We have been to Niagara falls twice in the mean time (its a couple of hours drive from here). Life seems to have changed. For the better or for worse I cant tell you just now. May be a few months later.
